Sammy

Sammy is a 17-week-old Pitbull mix that came to LCHS along with two sisters; while they were all very sweet, the girls were much stronger and ganged up on him since he was the runt. Once they were separated, Sammy blossomed! He gained weight very quickly and is now bigger than his sisters weighing in at 21 lbs; Sammy is going to be a big boy! He's an energetic little beefcake and loves playing--he is currently fostered with 4 dogs (a Weimaraner, Spaniel, Terrier mix and Chihuahua mix) and loves to run and play with them all—whether they want to or not. Sammy gets the major zoomies and will zip through the house like a bull in a China shop, so he needs a home where he will get plenty of exercise. His forever home will need to be fenced in, as he has selective hearing and can be stubborn when he doesn't want to come in from play/potty time. He is crate-trained and about 90% potty/house-trained... as long as you read his signs and take him out often, he has no accidents. While Sammy is very VERY sweet, he needs a firm hand and someone prepared to provide training and discipline. He is not the puppy for first-time dog owners. The house he is currently at has a cat who is very used to dogs so he tolerates him, but Sammy doesn't realize the cat doesn't play like the dogs and needs to be corrected to not mess with the kitty. He isn't mean, but again, plays rough, puppy bites/chews and needs to be corrected. Because of his energy, he would not do well in a home with senior dogs that do not like to be irritated. However, a home with another young dog would be great for him since he loves the companionship of other dogs! He is a talker, loves to bark/talk back when playing and will use his baby whine when he wants something. Sammy is going to be an amazing, beautiful dog and deserves a family that sees his potential and big heart!!!
