Carter

Carter is a 6 month old, 25 pound lab mix, and he’s a great mix of puppy energy and snuggly sweetness. He seems to understand which things are “his” to play with, and he can happily occupy himself with chew toys or his favorite squeaky toy, but he also really enjoys wrestling and playing chase with our larger, playful dog. Carter is respectful of our confident cat and older terrier, but any animal companions would need to either be OK with puppy play OR comfortable enough to firmly dissuade him. When he winds down, he’s a top-notch couch potato who will pour himself into your lap. He’s skeptical about new people but warms up to them within minutes, and although he hasn’t met any children yet, I suspect that he would do just fine. Carter seems very easy to train (he’ll already “sit,” “stay” and “spin” for you), and he sits politely for treats and meals. Carter sleeps quietly in a kennel at night and has done fine during short periods during the day as well. We’re still working on his house training, and he’s doing great, but he would not be able to be left alone or kenneled all day.
